Method

> This is a method of the [**AgentSteeringProtocol**](https://praison.ai/docs/sdk/reference/praisonaiagents/classes/AgentSteeringProtocol.md) class in the [**protocols**](https://praison.ai/docs/sdk/reference/praisonaiagents/modules/protocols.md) module.

Send a steering message to the agent during execution.

This can be called while the agent is running to provide
real-time guidance or course corrections.

## Signature

```python theme={"theme":{"light":"vitesse-light","dark":"vitesse-dark"}}
def steer(message: str, priority: int) -> str
```

## Parameters

**message** `str` *required*

The steering message

**priority** `int` (default: 5)

Message priority (higher = more urgent)

### Returns

**Returns** `str`

Message ID for tracking
