# add\_channel

Method

Create a named channel.

## Signature

```python theme={"theme":{"light":"vitesse-light","dark":"vitesse-dark"}}
def add_channel(channel_name: str, metadata: Optional[Dict[str, Any]]) -> bool
```

## Parameters

**channel\_name** `str` *required*

Unique channel name

**metadata** `Optional`

Optional channel metadata

### Returns

**Returns** `bool`

True if created, False if already exists
