# activate

Method

Activate a skill and return its rendered body.

## Signature

```python theme={"theme":{"light":"vitesse-light","dark":"vitesse-dark"}}
def activate(name: str, arguments: str, session_id: Optional[str]) -> str
```

## Parameters

**name** `str` *required*

Name of the skill to activate

**arguments** `str` (default: '')

Arguments to substitute in the skill body

**session\_id** `Optional[str]`

Optional session identifier for context

### Returns

**Returns** `str`

Rendered skill body with arguments substituted

### Exceptions

> [accordion] ValueError
>
> If skill is not found or not user-invocable
