# Archive Skill • AI Agent SDK

# archive\_skill

Method

> This is a method of the [**SkillManager**](https://praison.ai/docs/sdk/reference/praisonaiagents/classes/SkillManager.md) class in the [**manager**](https://praison.ai/docs/sdk/reference/praisonaiagents/modules/manager.md) module.

Archive a skill (recoverable, never hard-deleted).

Moves the skill directory into the archive store and drops it from
the active in-memory index. Use :meth:`restore_skill` to recover it.
Lifecycle curator plugins call this for agent-created skills that have
gone stale.

## Signature

```python theme={"theme":{"light":"vitesse-light","dark":"vitesse-dark"}}
def archive_skill(name: str) -> dict
```

## Parameters

**name** `str` *required*

Skill name to archive

### Returns

**Returns** `dict`

Dict with success status and archive path

## Uses

* `get_skill`
* `archive_dir.mkdir`
* `dest.exists`
* `strftime`
* `datetime.now`
* `shutil.move`
